The second leg of the trip, and the one I’d planned around.

May 29-31 — IOI Concerts (Days 1-3)

Day 1: bought the lightstick. Day 2: bought the shirt. Day 3 (Sunday): last day with a super long encore. The special events organised by the fans were very well done. Three days of concerts, three days of being in a crowd that all came for the same reason — that part doesn’t need much more explanation.

June 1 — Alpaca World + Nami Island

A Klook tour that was fine overall, but the tour guide had too many filler words (語助詞) when speaking, whether in English or Chinese. It became distracting.

June 2 — Myeongdong + Nanta Show

Slept in, then wandered Myeongdong. Caught the Nanta show in the evening — honestly didn’t feel it was worth the time or money.

June 3 — Dance Class + 헤이그

Went for a dance class with Yes Kpop. Felt a bit underwhelming — maybe because it’s catered towards kids? There wasn’t much in the way of fixing your moves or detailed instruction.

The musical 헤이그 (Hague) at night was a different story. This was good. Really good. I understood about half the lines, but the storytelling was strong enough that you could follow and infer the rest. Recommended. Didn’t go in with high expectations, but left impressed.

June 4 — Pocheon Tour

Too many people on this tour, not much vibe. Sat beside another Singaporean lady (Olivia), but she seemed very closed off, so I didn’t engage much either. More memorable was the German mother-daughter pair — the mother was quite friendly.

June 5 — Departure

Tired at this point. Kept it simple and headed to the airport early.

Looking back, the impromptu approach to the trip worked better than I expected. The day tours became an unexpected way to meet people, even if the quality of the experience depended heavily on the guide and group size. Taiwan’s smaller tour groups felt noticeably better. And the unplanned moments — overhearing IOI fans on the plane, the conversation with strangers on a tour bus, a musical I walked into without expectations — those ended up being the most memorable parts.
